John Lennon's tooth for sale

It looks like the tooth fairy missed a stop at John Lennon’s house in the 1960s.

Lennon’s tooth has turned up and will be auctioned off on Nov. 5 in Stockport. It is expected to make £10,000, BBC reports.

The former Beatle gave his house keeper, Dot Jarlett, his tooth when she worked for him at the Kenwood mansion in Surrey in the late 60s, BBC reports. He told her to give the tooth to her daughter “as a souvenir” after he pulled it out in his kitchen.

"He was in the kitchen and he had this tooth which he had wrapped in a piece of paper,” said Barry Jarlett, son of Dot. “He said: 'Dot will you dispose of this' and then he said: 'Or, as your daughter's a Beatles fan, you can give to her as a souvenir'.”

The lucky bidder will not only get a Beatle tooth-- it will come with an affidavit signed by Jarlett, who has also sold other mop top items such as John Lennon’s jacket he wore on the cover of Rubber Soul, BBC reports.

Any and all Lennon memorabilia is known to be extremely popular and valuable. Last June the handwritten lyrics for the Beatles’ song ‘A Day in the Life’ was sold for $1,202,500 (about £810,000), UK’s The Mirror reports.

"He was very generous to my mother," Jarlett said, the BBC reports. "He treated her like family because he didn't really have a very big family and he really looked after my mum. He used to call her Aunty Dot."

Karen Fairweather, the owner of Omega Auction house, chuckled when asked why anyone would want to buy the molar and noted that some have expressed interest, while others think it's gross, CNN reports.

"This is the most wonderful and weird item that we have ever had for sale,” said Fairweather, the Mirror reports.
