Even man's best friend isn't immune to the impending zombie apocalypse.

Michael Daniel, a 22-year-old man from Waco, Texas, was arrested on June 14 after police say he ate the family dog alive while on a drug-fueled rage.

Family members called police reporting that Daniel assaulted people at the home, chased a neighbor and started barking and growling, NBC reported.

Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton told KWTX News that Daniel then took a medium-sized black dog onto the front porch of the home, beat and strangled the animal and then “began to bite into the dog, ripping pieces of flesh away."

The dog died before police arrived on the scene. Daniel reportedly asked the police to use their stungun to help him get off his bad trip.

Daniel was examined after the incident and it was determined the had ingested the drug K-2, a synthetic form of cannabis.

He faces a felony charge for animal cruelty to non-livestock, according to the Houston Press.
