Allyson Felix finally has her gold medal.

The US sprinter held off a strong 200-meter field that included 100-meter winner Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce of Jamaica, running an incredible bend to burst into the home straight with a big lead and win in 21.88 seconds, USA Today reported.

Felix ran the fastest time in the past 14 years in winning the US trials and was a favorite for gold in the 200 meters.

Fraser-Pryce finished second in 22.09, while Carmelita Jeter of the US finished third (22.14).

Two-time Olympic champion Veronica Campbell-Brown was fourth (22.38), and 400 champions Sanya-Richards Ross of the USA was fifth (22.39), BBC Sports reported.

Four-time Olympic sprinting champion Michael Johnson called Felix's win "impressive."

"That was a great race with some great athletic talent," he said. "Felix, with her long stride, is a great sprinter with very nice technique. She could not be matched today."

Felix is a three-time world champion in the 200 meters, but had come up with silver medals in the 2004 and 2008 Olympics, The Associated Press reported.
