The opening ceremony hasn't happened yet and already this Olympics has had its fair share of controversy with doping scandals, uniforms and racist tweets.

The latest development had the North Korean women's soccer team refusing to take the field in its game against Colombia on Wednesday evening, according to the Associated Press.

Officials at Hampden Park said the team would not enter the field at the scheduled time, and were not on the field even 30 minutes after start time.

The reason? A flag dispute.

The North Korean team was apparently protesting the South Korean flag being mistakenly displayed beside the players' names before the game, said the BBC.

The Wall Street Journal said Glasgow officials called it "an issue behind the scenes."

The game between North Korea and Colombia was scheduled to start at 7:45 p.m.

"A security worker said officials at Hampden Park said the North Koreans grew angry because the South Korean flag had been flashed on the stadium’s scoreboard," said The Journal. "As game time approached, Colombia lined up in the tunnel and began to do its pre-game chants. But the North Koreans never came out of their locker room."

Glasgow's STV said the team came back on the pitch at 8:25 p.m.
