NBC and Jimmy Fallon have apologized to Rep. Michele Bachmann for a song played during her appearance on "Late Night" titled "Lyin' Ass Bitch."

Late Night house band The Roots' chose the 1985 Fishbone song “Lyin’ Ass Bitch-” as an intro for the Republican presidential candidate during her interview Monday.

Bachmann had criticized the song choice and the lack of an apology from NBC.

"This is clearly a form of bias on the part of the Hollywood entertainment elite," she said on Fox.

NBC's vice president for late night programming, Doug Vaughan, said the incident was "not only unfortunate but also unacceptable," and that the band has been "severely reprimanded."

He reportedly sent a letter to the Minnesota congresswoman apologizing for the incident.

"She accepted the apology," Bachmann's spokeswoman Alice Stewart told CNN Thursday.

Fallon offered an apology via Twitter to Bachmann:

“I’m honored that @michelebachmann was on our show yesterday and I’m so sorry about the intro mess. I really hope she comes back."

And:

“Actually it was a really fun interview. She helped me with my Minnesota accent. (I still sound Irish.)"

According to Inside TV, Twitter responses to Fallon’s tweets reportedly ranged from "be civil jimmy #lowbudget" to "grow a pair fallon".
