Obama inauguration 2013: From Alicia Keys to Far East Movement

President's staff planning modest inauguration in 2013, with Katy Perry, Stevie Wonder to perform.

A crowd of 35,000 is expected for President Obama's inaugural ball on January 21, with performers from Alicia Keys to Stevie Wonder ready to help celebrate the Commander-in-Chief's second term in office.

Overall, there will be much smaller celebrations than those that witnessed Obama break racial barriers four years ago as the first African American president, but this year's star power will be no less potent.

Organizers are planning for more than 800,000 people over the weekend — far fewer than the 1.8 million people that flooded Washington in 2009 — but that's by design, Reuters reported.

On the bill with Keys and Wonder are country singer Brad Paisley, Marc Anthony, rappers Far East Movement, Nick Cannon, fun., Usher, John Legend, Soul Children of Chicago and cast members from TV show "Glee."

There will be just two "official" parties, USA Today said, the fewest since Dwight D. Eisenhower's 1953 celebrations.

Alongside the Inaugural Ball is the Commander-in-Chief's Ball for 4,000 members of the military and their guests.

"We are honored and excited to have such a diverse, talented group of musical guests joining Americans from across the country to celebrate the 57th Inauguration," a statement from the Presidential Inaugural Committee said, according to USA Today.

Nobody is saying who will play what venue yet.

Earlier, Obama's staff asked Beyonce to sing the national anthem, Kelly Clarkson to sing "My Country Tis of Thee" and folk legend James Taylor to sing "America the Beautiful."

The president will take the oath on January 20. Because that's a Sunday, public celebrations go on January 21.
