China and the U.S. have inked a panda deal that allows for Tian Tian and Mei Xiang, the two giant pandas at the D.C. zoo, to stay on in Washington for at least another five years, according to the Washington Post.
For the last several weeks, the two cuddly black-and-white bears have been on a temporary lease, since the $1 million-a-year deal from the previous 10 years expired in early December. The head of Washington's National Zoo traveled to China last month, and was able to iron out a deal to keep the pandas on at a reduced price.
