MANADO, Indonesia — Human trafficking is hard to stop in North Sulawesi since the practice is largely culturally condoned and many victims are sold into slavery by their friends and family. More than 100,000 women and children are trafficked each year in Indonesia, with the port city of Manado serving as a hub of the trade.
