A "whole 'nuther level"

With President Obama set to visit Mexico Thursday and Friday, there's a new problem to consider: The country's drug cartels seem to be ratcheting up the sophistication of their weapons.

On Tuesday, Mexican police seized a .50 caliber anti-aircraft machine gun, which was fitted on the top of an SUV, from a group connected to the Beltran Leyva Organization, according to the Associated Press.

This weapon was the first anti-aircraft machine gun seized in Mexico.

As we heard from one former high-level U.S. official today, this latest find brings the situation in Mexico to a "whole 'nuther level."

Here's more GlobalPost coverage on the cross-border weapons trade, as well as a helpful primer on Mexico's drug kingpins.
