Hurricane Sandy causes destruction in New York and east coast of the US
Tuesday, October 30th, 2012

The clean-up has begun after Hurricane Sandy tore through New York City and the east coast of the United States last night, leaving at least 17 people dead, millions of people without power, homes burned to the ground and streets and buildings flooded.

The damage bill is estimated to be $20 billion, but could rise as authorities assess the extent of the destruction.
