Nor'easter hits storm-damaged areas (PHOTOS)

People walk through a darkened street using flashlights as a police spotlight shines behind them during a Nor’Easter snowstorm in the Rockaway neighborhood on November 7, 2012 in the Queens borough of New York City. The Rockaway Peninsula was especially hard hit by Superstorm Sandy and some are evacuating ahead of the coming storm.

A nor'easter brought freezing temperatures and snow to areas already badly damaged by superstorm Sandy on Wednesday, complicating recovery efforts in New York and New Jersey.

The Associated Press noted that it left hundreds of thousands of new people without power after the blanket of thick, wet snow downed power lines and trees already weakened by the previous storm.

Around 750,000 people, more than 200,000 of them from the new storm, remained without power in the region in freezing temperatures.
