DARPA lost contact with its Falcon hypersonic glider during a test.

DARPA, the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, on August 11, 2011 conducted a second flight test of its unmanned Falcon Hypersonic Technology vehicle, said to be the world's fastest plane ever. The Falcon glider was launched from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California aboard an Air Force Minotaur IV rocket.
