Burmese opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi met with a small group of foreign journalists at a friend's house October 2, 1996 in Rangoon after coming from behind police barricades blocking access to her house. Aung San Suu Kyi rebuked the government for "illegal" actions and refuted charges of collusion with foreign power.
