Swan upping canceled thames flooding july 2012

David Barber, the Queen's swan marker, holds a swan by the River Thames near Windsor, England, on July 18, 2011, during the annual swan census or 'Swan Upping.' Swan Upping is the annual census of the swan population on stretches of the River Thames, spanning the counties of Middlesex, Surrey, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire and Oxfordshire. Due to flooding, the swan upping was canceled this year for the first time since its inception in the 12th century.
