US Jobs Report: Unemployment rate falls to 7.8%, economy adds 114,000 jobs

The much-anticipated jobs report from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics comes at a key time in the presidential election race.

The latest US jobs report, released October 5, 2012 by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, said the US economy added 114,000 jobs in September and the unemployment rate fell to 7.8 percent.
