Are Chuck Hagel and John Brennan good picks?

On Monday, Barack Obama nominated Chuck Hagel for defense secretary and counterterrorism adviser John Brennan as his pick to head the CIA. Hagel, a Republican and former senator from Nebraska, faces criticism even within the GOP for his perceived positions on Israel and Iran. Brennan, meanwhile, withdrew from consideration to be CIA director in 2008 amid controversy about interrogation techniques.
