French President Francois Hollande is considering a 1 percent tax on devices that connect to the internet, such as smartphones, tablets, and even televisions, The Guardian reported. The money would go to supporting French music, images, and film, consistent with the country's concept of "cultural exception" which aims to protect French culture from outside forces, particularly English-language arts.
The tax would support those who create content that largely drives the use of those devices. What do you think? Should some of the profits from internet-connected devices go to content creators?
