Guy Fawkes Day: ‘We burn to remember’

LEWES, UK — There are Vikings walking up the street of this medieval town, hundreds of them, and they’re carrying flaming torches. Crowds cheer as bagpipes play, firecrackers ricochet against the sidewalk and a banner can be made out through the smoke: 'We Burn to Remember.' This is Lewes Bonfire Night, the country’s biggest and boldest celebration of the British holiday Guy Fawkes Day.
