In announcing the award, Long Island University wrote that Shelton’s work was given the award for “communicating the human tragedy of the conflict in Syria in a way that is impossible to ignore or forget.”
It is the second year in a row that GlobalPost’s groundbreaking video series has been honored with the prestigious Murrow award, which is given by The Radio Television Digital News Association to honor excellence in electronic journalism.
