But environmental devestation and a shockingly unequal distribution of land are undermining the benefits of the boom. 

Argentina soccer fans sentenced for vandalism, sent home from Paraguay

Paraguay has sent home 35 Argentina soccer fans after sentencing them to two-year suspended jail terms for acts of vandalism at a match in Asuncion.

The hooligans were fans of Argentine team Colon and were arrested after fighting with Paraguayan supporters of Cerro Porteno and riot police during a Tuesday match at the Copa Sudamericana tournament.

16 tigers and lions stuck in South American border limbo for 2 months

The 16 big cats perform with their Argentine circus in Asuncion, Paraguay, each August, but owner Oswal Wasconi said Argentine official refused their paperwork for re-entry when they tried to return home after finding out about the new Paraguayan law.
