Prince William helps save the rhinos (PHOTOS)

The brutal killing of rhinos is fueled by the soaring demand for their horns in Vietnam.

The 30th anniversary of the Falklands War between Britain and Argentina continues to cause rumbles. As I've mentioned here before, Sean Penn has weighed in and Prince William has recently been deployed there with the RAF causing Argentine hackles to be raised.

Sean Penn wades into Falkland Islands ruckus

Actor calls British deployment of Prince William to disputed islands "archaic colonialism."

It is Sean Penn's curse to be a man of multiple extraordinary talents. He is arguably the greatest actor of his golden generation (This includes: George Clooney, Johnny Depp, and Brad Pitt - all of them born within three years of each other). The films he directs show a deep understanding of the parts of American society that tend to be examined only in the songs of Bruce Springsteen and Steve Earle.

Yet somewhere inside Sean Penn there is an op-ed columnist or Pacifica radio talk-show host yearning to break free.

Penn's vociferous activism for left wing causes frequently takes the shape of advocacy journalism. This explains his recent interest in the revived British-Argentine dispute over the Falkland Islands, or Las Malvinas, as Argentina calls them, which broke out recently while the actor was in Buenos Aires. Penn made some comments about Prince William's current deployment to the Falklands as an example of "archaic colonialism."

The 30th anniversary of the start of the Falkland war is just two and a bit months away. Most of the time this sort of anniversary sees old foes extending the hand of - if not friendship - at least respect and honor for the dead.

But not this time. As I blogged two weeks ago, the leaders of the two countries, British Prime Minister David Cameron and Argentine President Christina Kerchner were involved in some nasty rhetoric.

Now, the nastiness is escalating. Kerchner has arranged with neighbor Mercosur countries in South America to impose a ban on all Falklands flagged boats landing on the continent.

Kate Middleton's summer hats (PHOTOS)

In her new role as Duchess of Cambridge, the former Kate Middleton has fashioned the hat in nearly every way possible this summer, ranging from a white cowboy hat in Calgary, Canada to a white brim hat at a royal family wedding in Scotland.  She's not the only one to make the hat a necessary accessary at posh British events. Prince William's cousin, Princess Beatrice, captured the public's attention with an eye-popping hat at Kate and Will's wedding on April 29, 2011. More GlobalPost: Is Kate Middleton too thin?  It seems that the hats are growing in popularity. Just recently, at the wedding of Prince William's cousin, Zara Philips, in Edinburgh, Scotland, many female guests were seen donning hats of all shapes and sizes to accompany their elegant dresses.
