Without Silvio Berlusconi’s belle du jour “Ruby the Heart Stealer” dominating the front pages of local newspapers, it was about time Milan found itself a new resident nymphet.

This week, the honors would have to go to the girlfriend of Kevin-Prince Boateng, AC Milan soccer star, who suffered an injury to his left thigh and had to be sidelined for at least a month.

His girlfriend, model Melissa Satta, however, had turned him into an instant demigod by reportedly calling the accident a sex injury.

"The reason why he is always injured is because we have sex 7-10 times a week,” she told Italian Vanity Fair.

"I hate foreplay, I want to get straight to the point. My favourite position is on top so I can take control," she told Vanity Fair.

Bliss it is to be alive when Barcelona are redefining the possibilities of their sport. Last night they played Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey, the knock-out competition, similar to England's FA Cup, that runs at the same time as the league championship. The scoreline was 2-1

It wasn't as if Real Madrid played badly. Cristiano Ronaldo scored the opening goal. But thereafter it was all Barca, Barca, Barca.

UPDATE:  IT TURNS OUT THE FRENCHMAN ISN'T SERIOUS.  HE WAS USING HIS CELEBRITY TO CALL ATTENTION TO THE WORK OF THE ABBE PIERRE FOUNDATION, A FRENCH HOUSING CHARITY.

"He isn't looking for signatures to be a candidate for the presidency, but to pass on the message of the Abbé Pierre foundation in support of better housing policy, and to make housing, which is a priority for French people, a priority for the presidential candidates," Libération's deputy editor, Paul Quinio, told the I-Tele news channel.

But the original item is still worth reading, because Eric Cantona is one interesting mec (dude).

Ooh-ahh Cantona - that's what the crowds at Old Trafford, home of Manchester United, used to chant when the Frenchman was leading their team to victory - and occasionally kung-fu fighting opposing fans (video here).

Since retiring as a player Cantona has had a remarkably interesting career: as an actor, a poet, a product spokesman and social activist. Now, according to a report in Liberation, he is garnering the necessary 500 signatures of mayors around France that will allow his name to be on the ballot for this April's presidential election.

It's one thing after another for the North Korean women's soccer team.

Remember last week when the North Korean women's soccer coach offered up the excuse of a lifetime?

To account for his team's loss against the United States in the opening match of the Women's World Cup, coach Kim Kwang Min said that at least eight members of his team had been struck by lightning.

Ouch.

Well, now the question seems to be: Can lightning cause steroids?

According to FIFA, soccer's international governing body, two North Korean defenders — Song Jong-Sun and Jong Pok-Sim — both tested positive for a banned anabolic steroid, AFP reported.

The two players were benched before a match with Colombia yesterday, which ended in a draw.

Because there are two instances of alleged steroid use on one team, FIFA said it would test the entire team.

Theo Zwanziger, president of the football federation in Germany, which is hosting is the Women's World Cup, said the incident reveals how far North Korea would go in the name of a win.

This incident underlines the impression of the inhumane system in North Korea where attempts are made to give athletes success by any means possible.

We are eager to hear Kim Kwang Min's excuse after this one.

Oh wait, that's him on the phone ... something about a UFO and a dog eating his ...
