The United Nations Security Council voted on Saturday to allow 300 cease-fire observers to enter Syria to monitor an fragile 'truce' between the government and rebels.
"Syria is ready to make a success of any honest effort to find a solution for the events it is witnessing," President Assad was quoted as saying by state media, while also warning that "No political dialogue or political activity can succeed while there are armed terrorist groups operating and spreading chaos and instability."
A report by the World Health Organization and UNICEF released Tuesday said that people lacking access to clean drinking water had been halved since 1990.
