1st production model Stratocaster guitar sold to private collector for asking price of $250K

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The first production model Fender Stratocaster guitar has been sold for $250,000. George Gruhn of Nashville sold the 1954 guitar on consignment for owner and guitar historian Richard Smith. Gruhn said Thursday that the guitar was shipped and the purchase finalized this week.

Christine McVie rejoins Fleetwood Mac, N. America tour set

Singer and keyboardist Christine McVie is rejoining Fleetwood Mac after a 16-year absence, as the veteran band plans to hit the road for a major North American tour starting in September. BigBang's 'Fantastic Baby' tops 100 mln YouTube views

SEOUL, March 27 (Yonhap) -- South Korean boy band BigBang saw the video of its 2012 hit song "Fantastic Baby" surpass 100 million views on YouTube Thursday. The video, which was first uploaded in March 2012, had slightly more than 100 million views as of about 2 p.m., making it the forth South Korean video to hit the milestone, following Girls' Generation's "Gee" and Psy's "Gangnam Style" and "Gentleman." BigBang became the first K-pop boy band to do so.

Elvis had genetic heart condition, DNA analysis shows

London, Mar 26 (EFE).- Elvis Presley had a genetic heart defect that may have contributed to his premature death, a British documentary series reported, citing a DNA analysis of a sample of the singer's hair. The producers of the documentary, airing Wednesday on Britain's Channel 4, said the sample of hair belonging to "The King of Rock and Roll" was purchased from a friend of his barber. An analysis of Elvis's DNA identified a gene mutation known to cause hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, which causes thickening and weakening of the heart muscle.

Johnny Cash album recorded in 1980s to be released

Washington, Mar 25 (EFE).- "Out Among The Stars," a disc that country music singer Johnny Cash recorded in the 1980s but which was never released until now, goes on sale Tuesday more than a decade after the artist's death. Cash's record label at the time, Columbia Records, had no interest in releasing the album 30 years ago and the material was shelved until the musician's only son, John Carter Cash, found it in his father's files in Nashville.
