Taiwan's EVA Air joins world's biggest air alliance

Taiwan's EVA Airways on Tuesday joined Star Alliance, the world's biggest airline grouping, in a move that could give it an edge over regional rivals like China Airlines. "EVA Air has successfully completed all joining requirements and I can confirm that our chief executive board has now unanimously accepted EVA Air into our alliance," Star Alliance CEO Mark Schwab announced at a ceremony in the north of the island.

Korean Air to order more Boeing 747-8s: sources

European car sales hit 20-year low as key markets suffer

Embattled shipping operators form alliance

Three leading shipping companies announced an alliance on three crucial routes on Tuesday in a strategy to face over-capacity and declining demand for transportation. CMA CGM of France, Maersk Line of Denmark and Swiss MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company said that the new so-called P3 Network would initially use 255 ships on three trade lanes: Asia-Europe, Trans-Pacific and Trans-Atlantic. The venture would have capacity of 2.6 million standard-sized containers (TEU).

Qatar mulls being launch customer for 777 upgrade

PARIS (Reuters) - Qatar Airways is talking to Boeing <BA.N> about being a launch customer for a successor to its mini-jumbo, the 406-seat 777-9X, Chief Executive Akbar Al Baker said at the Paris Airshow on Monday. The airline is also looking at exercising options for a further 30 787-9 Dreamliners on top of 30 787s already confirmed, he told reporters.

Danish firm orders 35 ATR planes from EADS

Nordic Aviation Capital (NAC) ordered 35 ATR-600 aircraft built by European firms EADS and Finmeccanica, with an option on 55 in a deal worth $2.1 billion (1.6 billion euros) at the Paris Air Show on Tuesday, ATR said.
