Elsewhere, Fiorentina moved up to third at the expense of AC Milan, who host Catania in Sunday's late match, thanks to a 3-0 rout away to Sampdoria. Pablo Osvaldo scored a hat-trick and Erik Lamela one goal as Roma trounced Siena 4-0 at the Olympic Stadium to move up to fifth, while Palermo moved out of the relegation zone thanks to a shock 1-0 win at home to Inter Milan.

Inter Milan captain Javier Zanetti on Sunday suffered a torn Achilles tendon during a 1-0 defeat to Palermo on Sunday which could signal the end of the Argentine veteran's career. Inter's 13th reverse of the season has left them in seventh, eight points off Fiorentina who occupy the third and last Champions League place with four games remaining.

Goals by Gokhan Inler, Goran Pandev and Blerim Dzemaili handed Napoli a valuable 3-0 win away to rock-bottom Pescara on Saturday and put Juventus's title celebrations on hold for at least another week. Juventus began the day with an 11-point lead on Napoli and would have secured their 29th Scudetto with a win over Torino on Sunday had Pescara beaten Napoli or held the visitors to a draw. Given Pescara have only won six times in 33 games, that seemed a tall order for the league new boys who, after a 24th defeat of the season, seem destined for a return to Serie B.

Chievo have lost captain Sergio Pellissier for the rest of the season after the striker injured an ankle ligament in training on Saturday, the Serie A side announced. Chievo, who sit in 13th place ahead of Sunday afternoon's match at home to Genoa, said in a statement: "Sergio Pellissier suffered a serious injury to his left ankle in training. "Tomorrow (Sunday) the captain will undergo further tests to determine a date for surgery."
