Puma names former Adidas man as new CEO

German sportswear giant Puma on Thursday named Bjoern Gulden, a former professional footballer and top manager at rival Adidas, as its new chief executive. "The administrative board of Puma today appointed Bjoern Gulden, 47, as the sports and lifestyle company's new CEO, effective July 1. He succeeds Franz Koch who left the company at the end of March," the company said in a statement.

KPMG also resigns as Skechers auditor, company says

(Reuters) - Footwear maker Skechers USA Inc is the second company from which KPMG has resigned as auditor following insider trading in its stock by a senior partner of the accounting firm. KPMG has stated that it has no reason to believe that the financial statements of Skechers have been materially misstated, Skechers said in a statement. Italian star Gina Lollobrigida auctions Bulgari jewels

Italian actress Gina Lollobrigida is to sell jewellery worth as much as three million euros with some of the proceeds going to help stem cell research, auction house Sotheby's said Tuesday. Designed by Italian creator Bulgari in the 1950s and 1960s, the most valuable items being put up for auction in Geneva in May include pearl and diamond earrings and a 19.3-carat diamond ring. Both pieces are valued at between $600,000 and one million dollars (465,000-775,000 euros).

French luxury retailer PPR to become Kering

French high-end retailer PPR will change its name to Kering in June to reflect a fresh focus on sportswear and luxury goods, chief executive Francois-Henri Pinault said on Friday. PPR, originally known as Pinault Printemps Redoute, is shedding its image as a distribution conglomerate to push global brands such as Gucci, Puma and Yves Saint Laurent, with an owl as its logo.

Sao Paulo launches summer fashion week

Sao Paulo Fashion Week (SPFW), Latin America's premier style event, starts Monday, with 25 designers set to showcase their summer collections. Brazil fashion brands Animale, Cori, Tufi Duek and Cavalera are set to kick off the show's 35th edition, which runs through Friday in the cavernous Biennal pavilion of the city's Ibirapuera Park. US top model Karlie Kloss, a Victoria's Secret "Angel," will be on hand to strut Animale designs while her compatriot Lindsey Wilson is to grace the catwalk for Sao Paulo-based fashion label Ellus.
