Football: Barca boosted by fringe benefits, says Roura

Barcelona assistant manager Jordi Roura was delighted with how some of his side's fringe players performed as they swept aside Real Zaragoza 3-0 at La Romareda. Two goals from Cristian Tello allied to Thiago Alcantara's opener made it a very comfortable evening for Barca who were without the injured Lionel Messi. And with manager Tito Vilanova having made six changes from the side that started Wednesday's Champions League quarter-final second-leg with Paris Saint-Germain, Roura said the performance underlined how deep their squad is.

Football: Five-star Madrid make light work of Levante

Gonzalo Higuain scored a goal of the season contender as Real Madrid kept up their pursuit of Barcelona with a 5-1 win over Levante at the Santiago Bernabeu. The visitors had taken a shock lead through Michel just after the half-hour mark, but their lead only lasted five minutes as Higuain swivelled brilliantly to volley in Xabi Alonso's cross. Kaka then put the hosts ahead before the break from the penalty spot and Cristiano Ronaldo made the game safe with his 29th league goal of the season six minutes from time.
