North Korea welcomes Google's Schmidt to Internet black hole

By David Chance and Ju-min Park SEOUL, Jan 8 (Reuters) - North Korea has done its best to butter up Google Inc. ahead of Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt's visit that started on Monday, even to the extent of setting up a gmail account for its state news agency KCNA at Sadly, the Hermit Kingdom's chosen email address doesn't work as it is short of the minimum six characters required for a Google account.

IQE says in advanced talks for "significant" acquisition

Jan 8 (Reuters) - British semiconductor materials maker IQE Plc confirmed it was in advanced talks regarding a potential "significant" acquisition, following a report published in the Times on Tuesday. IQE, which has a market value of about 170 million pounds ($273 million), is in the process of raising 17.5 million pounds to fund the possible acquisition, the Times reported. Canaccord Genuity, its broker, is helping IQE sell 70 million new shares at 25 pence each, the newspaper said.
