Tennis: China's Li Na advances as Kleybanova withdraws

China's Li Na reached the third round of the Miami Masters on Friday after her intended opponent Alisa Kleybanova withdrew with illness before their match. The walkover sends the second seed into a contest against the winner from Daniele Hantuchova and American Madison Keys. Romanian sixth seed Simona Halep also pulled out, citing a toe injury. Second-seeded Agnieszka Radwanska turned the tables on Simona Halep on Friday, beating the sixth-seeded Romanian 6-3, 6-4 to reach the women's final at Indian Wells. After losing to Radwanska in their first three meetings, 22-year-old Halep had won the last two, including a victory over the world number three in the semi-finals at Doha en route to the Qatar Open crown last month.

Australian Open champion Li Na booked her semi-final berth at the Indian Wells hardcourt tennis tournament with a 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 win over Dominika Cibulkova. China's Li, the world number two who is the top seed in the event, reprised her triumph over Slovakia's Cibulkova in the final in Melbourne, although she labored two hours and 36 minutes to do it. Li was firmly in control in the opening set, breaking Cibulkova to start the match.

Tennis: Radwanska sets up semi-final rematch with Halep

Second-seeded Agnieszka Radwanska held on for a three-set victory over Jelena Jankovic on Wednesday to book a semi-final clash with Romanian starlet Simona Halep at the BNP Paribas Open. Radwanska, ranked third in the world, downed Serbia's seventh-seeded Jankovic 7-5, 2-6, 6-4 to reach the semi-finals in the California desert for the second time. She'll get a chance to avenge her loss to Halep in the semi-finals last month at Doha, where the 22-year old Romanian overwhelmed the former Wimbledon finalist en route to the title.

Simona Halep, voted newcomer of the year on the WTA Tour, served up a second shock in two days on Saturday, beating Agnieszka Radwanska to reach the final of the Qatar Open. The 22-year-old Romanian not only overwhelmed Radwanska, the second-seeded former Wimbledon finalist, by 7-5, 6-2, but unleashed an unstoppable torrent of winners which suggested that a climb up the top 10 is more than likely.

Simona Halep again proved herself the most exciting new young star on the WTA circuit as she rode the storm which has blown away so many of the seeds at the Qatar Open. Halep, a 22-year-old Romanian who was voted WTA Tour newcomer of the year, needed less than an hour to overwhelm the fourth-seeded Sara Errani, and allowed one of the tour's gamest fighters only two games as she hurtled into the semi-finals.
