London, Feb 4 (EFE).- Swansea City announced Tuesday the firing of coach Michael Laudrup, who is to be replaced by former player Garry Monk.
"It is a decision we have taken reluctantly," the chairman of the Premier League club, Huw Jenkins, said. "But it's a decision made in the best interests of Swansea City Football Club and our supporters.
Monk will take the reins in partnership with Laudrup's top assistant, Alan Curtis.
Regarded as Denmark's best-ever soccer player, Laudrup, 49, shined on the field with Barcelona and Real Madrid before going into coaching.
