Atletico pair sent off in draw at Getafe

By Iain Rogers MADRID (Reuters) - Atletico Madrid slipped three points behind second-placed Real Madrid after having two players sent off in a 0-0 draw at Getafe in La Liga on Sunday. In a poor game marred by play-acting and littered with fouls and cards, Colombia striker Radamel Falcao had the best chance for the visitors just after the hour when his low shot was well saved by goalkeeper Jordi Codina.

Soccer-Struggling Hoffenheim sign defender Abraham from Getafe

BERLIN, Jan 22 (Reuters) - Relegation-threatened Hoffenheim have signed Argentine defender David Abraham from Spain's Getafe in a deal to 2016 as they seek to reverse their worst ever first half to a Bundesliga season. The tall 26-year-old defender won three Swiss league titles and two Swiss Cups with FC Basel before joining the Spanish team last year. He also played in the Champions League with the Swiss club.

Soccer-Rayo see off Getafe to stay in hunt for Europe

MADRID, Jan 7 (Reuters) - Rayo Vallecano stayed in the hunt for a European qualification place when club captain Piti struck twice in a 3-1 win at home to Madrid rivals Getafe on Monday. The victory at a chilly Estadio de Vallecas lifted Rayo above Valencia and Real Sociedad into seventh and they are two points behind sixth-placed Levante, who occupy the second of Spain's two Europa League berths.
