Shocks from the quake were felt across the Gulf in Kuwait, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, provoking panic in some office towers, witnesses reported. "No damage at all has been caused" to the plant, Bushehr provincial Governor Fereydoon Hasanvand told state television.

World powers, Iran seek to break deadlock

Iran and world powers Saturday meet for a second and final day of a new round of talks aimed at breaking a decade-old deadlock over the Islamic state’s disputed nuclear programme, with time slowly running out on a solution. The two sides held a tense day of negotiation in the Kazakh city of Almaty on Friday that ended with only an agreement to meet again. The sides failed to resolve the main issue on the table: Iran’s willingness to accept some watered-down demands concerning its nuclear programme in return for relief of sanctions, which have crippled the Islamic republic’s eco

A senior Iranian official on Sunday renewed the call on world powers to recognize Iran's "right" of uranium enrichment, semi-official Fars news agency reported. "What is emphasized by us is the right of enrichment for peaceful means which is not against international regulations," said Velayati, a presidential

Despite major differences between Iran and the world powers over the Islamic republic's disputed nuclear program during the latest round of talks, analysts say gestures for the continuation of negotiations are still resonated from both sides, which is favored to be the best choice. The two-day nuclear talks between Iran and so-called P5+1 group (the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany) in Almaty of Kazakhstan concluded on Saturday with both sides saying that the gap of views over the key points could not be bridged. Iran and the P5+1 group remained "f
