Bombs hit election offices of candidates in northwest Pakistan, killing 3

MIRAN SHAH, Pakistan - Pakistani intelligence officials say two bombs targeting the offices of candidates running in this weekend's election have killed three people in northwest Pakistan. The officials say 15 people also were wounded in the blasts Friday in Miran Shah, the main town in Pakistan's North Waziristan tribal area. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to the media. Militants have killed at least 130 people in attacks on candidates and party workers since the beginning of April in an attempt to hamper the vote.

8 Die in attack against election rally in Pakistan

Islamabad, May 7 (EFE).- At least eight people died and some 30 others were wounded Tuesday in a suicide bombing attack on a religious party's campaign rally in the northwestern Pakistani region of Hangu, a police official told Efe. The explosion occurred in the early afternoon during a meeting organized by the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam party in preparation for next Saturday's elections, according to the Hangu police official. At least 20 dead in Islamist protests in Bangladesh

KABUL (Reuters) - Five U.S. soldiers were killed by a bomb in southern Afghanistan, a spokesman for the U.S. Armed Forces said on Saturday. New jihadi magazine appeals for help against drones

The first issue of the English-language online magazine, called "Azan", was published on May 5, the SITE intelligence monitoring group said. It compared Azan to "Inspire" magazine, set up by al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP).
