Carl Froch is predicting he will stop Mikkel Kessler inside 10 rounds in their world super-middleweight title unification fight on Saturday. Both boxers will be putting world titles on the line for a rematch in front of 18,000 fans at the O2 Arena in London after Englishman Froch weighed in at 11 stones 13 pounds 9 ounces and Denmark's Kessler tipped the scales at 11 stones 12 pounds 7 ounces at Friday's weigh-in.

Boxing: Purdy's title bid fails before it starts

England's Lee Purdy failed to make weight for Saturday's planned welterweight world title fight against champion Devon Alexander, squandering his chance for the crown. Purdy tipped the scales on Friday at 147.8 pounds, just over the 147-pound limit, while US southpaw Alexander weighed in at 146.7 pounds. As a result, Purdy cannot win the International Boxing Federation title even if he defeats Alexander, 24-1 with 13 knockouts, at Atlantic City's Boardwalk Hall. Purdy, 20-3 with one draw and 13 knockouts, has won five fights in a row.

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Memorabilia from boxing champion Muhammad Ali's rise to sporting and cultural prominence, including a signed training robe and amateur boxing trophy, are expected to fetch tens of thousands of dollars in Los Angeles auction. Julien's Auctions said on Monday that it expects a signed white training robe, worn by Ali in November and December 1981 while he prepared for his final bout against Trevor Berbick, to sell for between $25,000 and $35,000 during a two-day auction starting May 31.

Boxing: Guerrero firearm possession charge dropped

Boxer Robert Guerrero, coming off a loss 10 days ago to unbeaten Floyd Mayweather, had all firearm possession charges against him dropped on Tuesday in a New York State Supreme Court hearing. Guerrero was arrested March 28 for allegedly trying to take a handgun on a plane to Las Vegas at John F. Kennedy Airport. At the hearing, Guerrero pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and was fined $250 as well as ordered to perform 50 hours of community service, which he will be allowed to do in his home state of California.

British boxer Haye was set to fight for the first time in nearly a year at the Manchester Arena in northern England on June 29 against an opponent whose only professional loss came when he was controversially stopped because of a cut to his right eye in the fourth round by WBC champion Vitali Klitschko last year.

The bout -- at the luxury Venetian Macao casino resort -- will be Pacquiao's first fight outside the United States since 2006. "The fight is green and go," Pacquiao's chief management adviser, Michael Koncz, told AFP, adding the arrangements had been finalised with Top Rank, the Las Vegas-based boxing promotion agency that handles the Philippine boxer.

Liborio Solis of Venezuela pounded out a points win over defending champion Kohei Kono of Japan to claim the World Boxing Association (WBA) super flyweight title on Monday. Two of the judges had Solis ahead, 115-111 and 114-112, while the other scored it 113-113. Kono counter-attacked with a straight right to knock Solis down in the second round. But the Venezuelan also had Kono on the canvas in the eighth after unleashing a left hook.

Japan's Takashi Uchiyama pulled off a knockout victory over Jaider Parra of Venezuela to defend his World Boxing Association (WBA) super featherweight title on Monday. The knockout came two minutes and 15 seconds into the fifth round when Uchiyama fired a powerful left to the stomach to send Parra to the canvas. "He (Parra) had never had a defeat before and he was really strong. He has a good jab so I planned to beat him in the latter half of the bout, but I was able to end it earlier than I had expected," said Uchiyama.

World Boxing Council champion Floyd Mayweather extended his perfect record to 44 victories Saturday, beating Robert Guerrero by unanimous decision in their welterweight title fight. Mayweather, who was defending his title for the first time since serving close to three months in jail last year after being convicted of domestic violence, dominated a bloodied Guerrero for the majority of the fight at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino. All three judges scored the 12-round fight 117-111 in favour of Mayweather.
