RIVERSIDE, Calif., Jan 14 (Reuters) - A California judge found a 12-year-old boy criminally responsible for second-degree murder in the death of his neo-Nazi father on Monday, following a trial that centered on accusations of abuse and the young defendant's grasp of right and wrong. Verdict due for California boy accused of killing neo-Nazi dad

By Dan Whitcomb LOS ANGELES, Jan 14 (Reuters) - A California judge was expected to render a verdict on Monday in the trial of a 12-year-old boy accused of murdering his neo-Nazi father, a case that focused on accusations of abuse and the pre-teen defendant's grasp of right and wrong at such a young age. Prosecutors and defense lawyers both rested their cases last week in the Riverside County Superior Court trial of Joseph Hall for the May, 2011 death of his father Jeffrey, a regional director of the National Socialist Movement.

Attorneys spar over fate of California boy who killed neo-Nazi dad

By Dana Feldman RIVERSIDE, Calif., Jan 9 (Reuters) - A lawyer for a California boy accused of murdering his neo-Nazi father urged a judge on Wednesday to convict his client of a lesser charge of voluntary manslaughter, citing what he termed an abusive upbringing. But a prosecutor told the court that Joseph Hall, who both sides agree shot his father at point blank range in May 2011 when he was 10 years old, knew at the time his actions were wrong, and that abuse allegations cited by the defense were a diversion.

Defense rests in trial of boy who killed neo-Nazi father

By Dana Feldman RIVERSIDE, Calif., Jan 8 (Reuters) - Attorneys representing a 12-year-old California boy charged with murdering his neo-Nazi father rested their case Tuesday without calling him to testify in a case that drew attention due to the rarity of a parent being slain by a child so young. Lawyers for Joseph Hall concede that the boy, then just 10 years old, shot his father in May 2011 at point blank range, but argue that he should not be held criminally responsible. The gun belonged to his father, Jeffrey Hall, 32.
