Football: Leverkusenn confirm Schurrle Chelsea talks

English Premier League giants Chelsea are set to make Bayer Leverkusen striker Andre Schurrle their first signing for next season, with the two clubs currently carrying out negotiations in London, a spokesman for the German club said on Friday. The deal which is likely to exceed 25 million euros ($33 million, £21 million) may also see the 2012 European champions loan Belgian midfielder Kevin de Bruyne to the German club for next season.

Football: Chelsea bid again for Germany star Schuerrle

Premier League side Chelsea have made an improved offer of nearly 22 million euros (£18.8m, US$28.7m) for Bayer Leverkusen's Germany star Andre Schuerrle, according to a media report here. Having made an initial bid of 20 million euros for the 22-year-old, Chelsea have raised their offer with Belgium midfielder Kevin de Bruyne reported to be part of the deal and he could join Leverkusen on a one-year loan spell.

Football: Police probe Kompany 'racism' reports

Police in Britain have revealed that they are studying claims that Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany was racially abused as he gave a television interview after his side's win at Manchester United on Monday. The Belgium international was being interviewed alongside team-mate James Milner in the Old Trafford tunnel area when a voice could be heard off-camera apparently shouting abuse, although it was not clear to television viewers what was said.
