Resurgent Orioles knock off Yankees again

Resurgent Orioles knock off Yankees again BALTIMORE -- The losing streak is over, and the Orioles appear to be rounding into form again. Baseball: Kuroda leaves game with calf injury

Hiroki Kuroda's rocky first inning was just the start of a painful night Wednesday as the New York Yankees hurler exited early after being hit in the calf by a line drive. Kuroda was struck on the leg by a single off the bat of Baltimore's Manny Machado in the second inning and departed in the third with a bruised right calf. Nick Markakis and Chris Davis had stung Kuroda for first-inning home runs to set up an eventual 6-3 Orioles victory.

Milwaukee Brewers - TeamReport

MLB Team Report - Milwaukee Brewers - INSIDE PITCH The Brewers, 9-2 losers against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday, are starting to get a better idea about when first baseman Corey Hart will be back in the lineup. Hart, who underwent surgery on his right knee in late January, hit on the field Monday for the first time since going on the disabled list. He hopes to gradually ramp up his on-field activities, day by day. "I'll know a lot this week," said Hart.

Minnesota Twins - TeamReport

MLB Team Report - Minnesota Twins - INSIDE PITCH The Twins are struggling right now, to put it mildly. They are coming off a 2-7 homestand and have hit the road for 15 of their next 20. The road began in Atlanta in interleague play, where Twins pitchers, who are not pitching well, have to hit and take the designated hitter out of their lineup. Things are not about to get easier. That was the case Wednesday, as the Braves earned an 8-3 win over the struggling Twins.

SEOUL, May 23 (Yonhap) -- Lim Chang-yong, an injured South Korean pitcher who signed with the Chicago Cubs last year, is eyeing a return to action later this summer, his agent said Thursday. Lim, 36, has been rehabbing his surgically repaired right elbow in Mesa, Arizona, since February, about two months after signing a deal with the Major League Baseball (MLB) club. According to his agent, Park Yoo-hyun, Lim is throwing between 50 and 70 pitches on the mound, though not at full strength. Park estimated that Lim could be ready for live action as early as mid-July.

Arizona Diamondbacks - PlayerWatch

1B Paul Goldschmidt went 0-for-3 with two walks, ending his hitting streak at seven games. During the streak, he went 13-for-29 (.448). LHP Patrick Corbin, who threw a three-hitter with 10 strikeouts Monday in Arizona's 5-1 win, is the third visiting pitcher at Coors Field to throw a nine-inning complete game with at least 10 strikeouts. The others are Montreal's Pedro Martinez on July 29, 1997, and San Diego's Kevin Brown on July 15, 1998.

San Francisco Giants - PlayerWatch

1B Brett Pill is not a pitcher. That's the biggest head-scratcher about his promotion from Triple-A Fresno on Tuesday. The Giants were supposed to summon a starting pitcher from the minor leagues either to replace injured RHP Ryan Vogelsong in the rotation or fill in for RHP Chad Gaudin if manager Bruce Bochy chose to move his long reliever into Vogelsong's spot. But Bochy put off a decision on the rotation replacement, giving Pill as much as a week to prove the Giants need a fifth hitter on the bench more than a 13th pitcher.
