Regular bonus not part of ordinary wage: Hyundai vice chairman

SEOUL, March 25 (Yonhap) -- A vice chairman of Hyundai Motor Group, South Korea's second largest family-run conglomerate, said on Tuesday that its regular bonus is not included in the ordinary wage, hinting at a tougher stance on the dispute with the labor union. Yoon Yeol-chul, the vice chairman in charge of labor management, told reporters earlier in the day that Hyundai will abide by strict legal principles in dealing with wage issues this year.

Hyundai, Kia help partner companies hire workers

SEOUL, March 25 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's two largest carmakers opened a job fair on Tuesday as part of their ongoing shared growth program to help partner companies hire 17,000 new workers this year. Hyundai Motor Co. and Kia Motors Corp., flagships of Hyundai Motor Group, the world's fifth largest conglomerate, said this year's fair is significant because it has expanded the companies they are helping to include those that provide parts and raw materials to larger suppliers that have direct dealings with the two carmakers.

Hyundai Motor targets 228,000 new Sonata sales this year

SEOUL (Reuters) - South Korea's Hyundai Motor <005380.KS> aims to sell 228,000 new Sonata sedans globally this year, betting on the key model to regain market share and reverse a profit fall. The world's fifth-biggest automaker, along with Kia Motors <000270.KS>, aims to sell 63,000 redesigned Sonatas in Korea and 165,000 overseas this year, it said in statement on Monday. Next year, Hyundai is targeting global sales of 338,000 Sonata sedans - 89,000 in Korea and 249,000 overseas.

Hyundai Glovis opens new auto parts export plant in S. Korea

SEOUL, March 21 (Yonhap) -- Hyundai Glovis Co., one of South Korea's leading automotive logistics support companies, said Friday that it has opened a car parts export plant that will ship products to China. The plant located at the Wanju Techno Valley complex, some 235 kilometers south of Seoul, will assemble and package knock-down vehicle kits that will be shipped to Hyundai Motor Co.'s Sichuan Province plant in China. The plant is scheduled to be opened in the first half of this year.

Average export price of S. Korean car to top US$15,000 this year: report

SEOUL, March 19 (Yonhap) -- The average unit price of a South Korean-made car is expected to surpass the US$15,000 mark for the first time this year, mainly due to more upper-end cars being shipped abroad, a local automobile association said Wednesday. According to the Korea Automobile Manufacturers Association (KAMA), carmakers such as Hyundai Motor Co. and Kia Motors Corp. plan to release the brand-new Genesis premium sedan and K900 flagship model in select overseas markets in the coming weeks.

SEOUL, March 18 (Yonhap) -- Development and mass production of eco-friendly cars top Hyundai Motor Co.'s latest sustainable growth report released Tuesday that highlights the carmaker's goals for 2014. The annual report calls for the full-fledged market introduction of the world's first mass-produced fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) and development of environmentally friendly, low-carbon emitting cars.
