Snooker: Robertson suffers shock exit at the Crucible

Australia's Neil Robertson suffered a shock exit from the World Championships on Thursday as the world number two crashed to a 10-8 defeat against Robert Milkins. Robertson held a 5-4 lead overnight and was expected to finish off the world number 19, who is making a rare appearance in the sport's most prestigious event at Sheffield's Crucible Theatre. But the 2010 world champion produced a lacklustre performance and England's Milkins was able to take advantage.

Williams keeps it in the family

By Alan Baldwin MANAMA (Reuters) - Claire Williams has a pretty shrewd idea of how her father Frank would have reacted had he been told 20 years ago that she would one day be deputy principal of his Formula One team and designated successor. "He'd have jumped out of his wheelchair," the 36-year-old, whose father has been paralysed since he broke his neck in a car accident in the south of France in 1986, told Reuters in an interview.

[Diary of an Expat Bride] Second-hand blues

The first few days back in my native US I spend at local “garage” sales. A garage sale is a place where people sell their second-hand items for a day or two outside of their homes. It is a great place to pick up some deals. In college, it was how I completely furnished my dorm room, and later my apartment. Everything that I owned in those days, from the iron to the bed frame, had been purchased second-hand. Now, on visits back home, I scan the sales for various odds and ends that I need for my son on our visits back.

RugbyU: Wood tells England to ignore Wales 'sideshow'

England forward Tom Wood says his side must not allow themselves to be intimidated by the atmosphere ahead of their Six Nations title showdown with Wales in Cardiff on Saturday. Wood made his Test debut at the Millennium Stadium in 2011 and recalls being unnerved by the noise in the ground and the home crowd's efforts to knock him out of his stride. As a result, he says the pre-match build-up has been a focus of attention during England's preparations for the game this week. "There is a lot of sideshow before the game," Wood said.

Tennis-Sweaty Isner disgruntled by time violation rule

By Nick Mulvenney SYDNEY, Jan 9 (Reuters) - John Isner limped out of the Sydney International on Wednesday with his Australian Open participation in doubt but the thing that frustrated him most about his last 16 defeat was the umpire checking how long he was taking to serve. The ATP are strictly enforcing a new rule giving players 25 seconds to get their serve away this year in a bid to speed up the game and big-serving Isner was a victim of the policy in his 6-4 6-4 loss to fellow American Ryan Harrison.
