Top three victorious in German Bundesliga

Top three victorious in German Bundesliga BERLIN, Nov. 30 (Xinhua) -- Bundesliga's top three wrapped up victories at the 14th round as leaders Bayern beat bottom team Braunschweig 2-0, Leverkusen cruised to a 3-0 over winless Nuremberg and Dortmund craved out a 3-1 at Mainz on Saturday. The Bavarians dictate the pace atop the standings as Arjen Robben's first half brace against newly promoted Braunschweig were enough to secure three points.

Football: Bayern's Robben wary of bottom side Braunschweig

Bayern Munich's Arjen Robben has warned his team-mates to avoid anything 'strange' happening when the Bundesliga leaders host bottom side Eintracht Braunschweig on Saturday. Strugglers Braunschweig could not have picked a worse time to travel to the home of all-conquering Bayern, who are on record runs in both the Bundesliga and Champions League. Munich's emphatic 3-0 win at Borussia Dortmund last Saturday extended their record run to 38 matches unbeaten in the Bundesliga.

Football: Arrests, violence blight Hanover derby

Some 14 police officers were hurt and four football fans were arrested, with dozens more injured, during trouble before Hanover 96's goalless draw with Eintracht Braunschweig on Friday night. Just 70 kilometres separate the two north German clubs and tensions ran high for the first Lower Saxony derby in the Bundesliga since April 1976, with promoted Braunschweig coming into the game bottom the league. Police had deployed dozens of extra officers for the match at the HDI Arena where 47,200 fans had packed into the stadium.

Goalless Lower Saxony derby marred by flares

BERLIN (Reuters) - Hanover 96 and promoted Eintracht Braunschweig drew 0-0 in the first Bundesliga meeting of the regional rivals in 37 years on Friday in a match marred by fans lighting dozens of flares. Both sets of supporters also threw firecrackers on to the pitch several times while some briefly clashed with police prior to the game as they tried to force their way into the stadium. An announcer repeatedly urged them to stop, with flares banned in German grounds, and the clubs could face sanctions.

Football: More records in sight as Bayern go to Hoffenheim

Bayern Munich have their eyes set on equalling a 30-year-old record for the Bundesliga's longest unbeaten run as they prepare to go to Hoffenheim on Saturday. Following their treble-winning 2012-13 campaign in which they broke one record after another, the outgoing Jupp Heynckes appeared to have left his successor Pep Guardiola with a thankless task. But Guardiola has picked up where Heynckes left off and has already equalled Bayern's longest ever unbeaten start to a Bundesliga season, set in 1968/69.

Kiessling still concerned over 'phantom goal' fallout

BERLIN (Reuters) - Bayer Leverkusen striker Stefan Kiessling is still dealing with the effects of the 'phantom goal' he scored against Hoffenheim earlier this month despite the German federation ruling against a replay of the encounter. Last season's Bundesliga top scorer had to shut down his Facebook page on Wednesday to end continued verbal abuse by people who thought he should have told the referee the ball had gone in through the side netting in their 2-1 win at Hoffenheim.
