Tennis: Henin gives birth to her 'little fairy' Lalie

Former women's world tennis number one Justine Henin gave birth to a baby girl called Lalie on Wednesday, she announced on her social network pages. The 30-year-old Belgian - who retired for good in January 2011 - said that she and her boyfriend Benoit Bertuzzo were overjoyed. "We were anticipating this so much, and now it has happened, this afternoon a little fairy arrived to illuminate our lives... She is called Lalie, she is in top form and we are really delighted! Justine and Benoit," she wrote on her Facebook and Twitter accounts.

Tennis-Sharapova's biggest weakness ruthlessly exposed by Li Na

By Simon Cambers MELBOURNE, Jan 24 (Reuters) - Outplayed, out-thought and out-manoeuvred, Maria Sharapova's hopes of reaching another grand slam final were undone by China's Li Na in unceremonious fashion on Thursday. The Russian, trying to reach her fourth grand slam final in her past seven appearances, had romped through her first five matches for the loss of just nine games, an Australian Open record.

Tennis-Li will beat Sharapova if she believes, says coach

By Ian Ransom MELBOURNE, Jan 23 (Reuters) - Transforming trailblazer Li Na from a hot-headed one-slam wonder into a cold-blooded winner of multiple major titles is the end game for coach Carlos Rodriguez, who says the Chinese is primed to upset Maria Sharapova in the Australian Open semi-finals. Rodriguez has guided Li into the last four of a major for the first time since her 2011 French Open triumph, whipping the 30-year-old into the shape of her life and digging her out of a rut of self-doubt.

Tennis-Blissful marriage of love and tennis for China's Li

By Ian Ransom MELBOURNE, Jan 21 (Reuters) - Silencing the voices of doubt that plague Li Na's mind has been mission impossible at times for coaches and her stoic husband Jiang Shan, but the 30-year-old Chinese appears to have finally found harmony on and off the court. The world number six will play Agnieszka Radwanska for a place in the Australian Open semi-finals on Tuesday, and is relishing being back in the big-time after a year-and-a-half in the grand slam wilderness.

Tennis-Strong-starting Li targets another first in Melbourne

By Nick Mulvenney SYDNEY, Jan 9 (Reuters) - China's Li Na has come closer than any Asian to winning the Australian Open singles crown and, if she can avoid a Melbourne Park meltdown, is a good outside bet to add another to her lengthy list of tennis "firsts" next week. The 30-year-old has a good recent track record at Melbourne Park, reaching the 2010 semi-finals, losing the 2011 final to Kim Clijsters and then crashing out to the Belgian in the fourth round last year having given up four match points.
