US police hunt man for killing wife, daughters

US police launched a manhunt Wednesday for a Californian man suspected of killing his wife and two young daughters, and warned that he was armed and dangerous. Shane Franklin Miller allegedly shot his 34-year-old wife Sandy and daughters Shelby, eight, and 4-year-old Shasta on Tuesday in Shingletown, 230 miles (370 km) north of San Francisco. "Miller is considered armed and dangerous, possibly having access to a cache of weapons," said Shasta County Sheriff's Office, adding that they were pursuing leads in northern California, while declaring a nationwide manhunt.

Arrest made in case of Hamilton, Ont., man missing after pickup truck test drive

HAMILTON - Police say a Toronto man has been charged in connection with the case of missing Hamilton, Ont., man who disappeared after taking two men on a test drive of his pickup truck. Tim Bosma was reported missing Monday night after two men arrived at his home for a test drive of his black 2007 Dodge Ram pickup, which Bosma had listed for sale online. Hamilton police Supt. Dan Kinsella told a news conference the male suspect was arrested without incident while driving in Mississauga, west of Toronto.

Boston Marathon bomb suspect buried in Virginia

The body of Tsarnaev, who was killed in an April 19 shootout with police, was moved earlier this week from the Graham Putnam & Mahoney funeral home in Worcester, Massachusetts, police there said on Thursday.

Stop or I'll scoot! Edmonton police to ride Segways on downtown patrols

EDMONTON - Police in Edmonton are trying a two-wheeled tool to fight crime. Some foot patrol officers in the downtown area will soon be riding around on Segways. Six of the electric-powered devices will be available to monitor streets and walking trails, special events and the city's light-rail transit pedways. Police Supt. Tony Harder says the Segways won't have sirens, but will be equipped with red-and-blue LED lights to make them stand out at night. (CHED)

Boston police chief not warned about Tsarnaevs

Boston's top cop said Thursday his department was not briefed on a Russian intelligence warning about alleged bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev ahead of last month's devastating marathon blasts. Russian authorities had alerted the FBI in 2011 that Tsarnaev, an ethnic Chechen and legal US resident who authorities say set the bombs with his younger brother, may have been radicalized. And federal authorities in Washington were also aware of his travels to Russia's southern region of Dagestan last year, perhaps to join underground groups.

Four Quebec police officers to be charged after violent arrest caught on video

TROIS-RIVIERES, Que. - Four police officers face criminal charges following the violent arrest of an armed-robbery suspect that was caught on video. The four Trois-Rivieres municipal officers were arrested and released under a promise to appear in court on May 31. A surveillance video showed four people beating a suspect in a parking lot on Feb. 2. The incident attracted international attention once the video hit the Internet.
