Hong Kong airbridge collapse rips off plane door

Hong Kong authorities said Monday they had launched an investigation after an airbridge collapsed at the city's airport, ripping the door off a Cathay Pacific plane and injuring a technician. The boarding bridge for a Cathay flight bound for Nagoya in Japan on Sunday evening suddenly collapsed after all of the 262 passengers had boarded the aircraft, according to the Hong Kong Airport Authority and Cathay.

Japan carriers eye claims over Dreamliner grounding

Japan's two major airlines said Friday they were planning to make a compensation claim against US plane making giant Boeing over the prolonged grounding of the troubled Dreamliner, the carriers said Friday. Cambodia to launch new carrier this year

Cambodia is expected to launch a new airline later this year after a deal was struck between one of the country's biggest tycoons and Philippine conglomerate San Miguel Corporation. Kith Meng, chairman of Royal Group -- a hotel, media and telecoms empire -- inked the deal late on Tuesday with the Manila-based firm, which already owns a controlling stake in Philippine Airlines (PAL), according to a statement.

The cutting-edge Dreamliner jet has been grounded worldwide since January after two incidents involving a lithium-ion battery on board an ANA flight and a Japan Airlines Co Ltd <9201.T> jet in Boston.
