International Sports Desk, Jan 17 (EFE).- Serbian three-time defending champion Novak Djokovic advanced to the round of 16 of the Australian Open in convincing fashion, defeating Uzbek Denis Istomin 6-3, 6-3, 7-5 on Friday.
The world No. 2, who has not lost a match since his defeat to top-ranked Rafael Nadal in last year's U.S. Open final, took a two-set lead in just over an hour on the strength of strong serving and efficient use of his break points.
Through sets one and two, Djokovic won 36 of his 46 serve points and coverted all three of his break-point opportunities.
