Football: Bayern's Sammer dismisses Rooney reports

Bayern Munich have dismissed reports Manchester United and England striker Wayne Rooney is a summer transfer target for the Champions League finalists'. Last week, the 27-year-old put in a transfer request to leave Old Trafford, but he is apparently not on the German champions' radar. "I don't know what Rooney would bring to the Bundesliga," Bayern's director of sport Matthias Sammer told reporters after recent stories circulated in the German media about Bayern's interest in the England ace.

Football: Schaaf quits Bremen after 14 years as coach

Werder Bremen on Wednesday parted company with Thomas Schaaf, one of the longest serving coaches in Bundesliga history, after 14 years in charge with the north German side. Bremen had only narrowly avoided relegation this season. Having joined Werder in 1972 as a youth player, Schaaf had spent more than 40 years at Bremen as a defender, then youth team, reserve team and assistant trainer before taking over as head coach in 1999.

Goetze, 20, dropped a bombshell on Champions League finalists Dortmund last month when it was revealed he had actioned a clause in his contract to join Bayern for 37 million euros (US$48.4m) to work with new coach Pep Guardiola.

Football: Braunschweig deal for Elabdellaoui

Norwegian youth international Omar Elabdellaoui, initially on loan from Manchester City, has signed a permanent deal through to June 2015 with Eintracht Braunschweig, the newly-promoted club said Friday. "It became pretty quickly apparent that we wanted to take up the option to buy," said the club's sporting director Marc Arnold. Elabdellaoui, 21, has made 12 appearances since his January arrival to help Lower Saxony outfit Braunschweig into the top flight of the Bundesliga for the first time in 28 years. sg/cw/as

Football: Ribery eager to extend Bayern contract

France wing Franck Ribery has said he is eager to extend his Bayern Munich contract past 2015 having already spent nearly six years at the Champions League finalists. The 30-year-old joined Bayern in July 2007 from Marseille and has scored 51 goals, with 74 assists, in his 154 league games for the Bavarians to become a fans favourite at the Allianz Arena and was a key factor in Bayern winning their 23rd German league title. He told German magazine Kicker he would be happy to extend his stay in Munich.

Football: Dortmund's Kehl expects fireworks at Wembley

Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund both rested their stars as the Champions League final dress rehearsal ended in a 1-1 draw, but Dortmund captain Sebastian Kehl has said he expects an explosive affair in Wembley. Football: Concussed Uchida's injury doubt for Schalke

Japan defender Atsuto Uchida is an injury concern for Schalke's remaining two league games after suffering a concussion in their 1-0 win at Borussia Moenchengladbach as the Royal Blues close in on a Champions League place. Germany midfielder Julian Draxler netted the 82nd-minute winner on Friday, but 'Gladbach were unlucky having twice hit the woodwork as Schalke remain fourth in the league, which means a Champions League play-off place.
