Soccer-Juve good enough to win Champions League, says Anelka

Feb 1 (Reuters) - Serie A leaders Juventus are strong enough to win the Champions League this season for the third time in their history, new signing Nicolas Anelka said on Friday. The much-travelled former France striker joined the Italian giants in January on a five-month deal, ending a one-year spell with China's Shanghai Shenhua.

Football: Move to 'big club' Juventus pleases Anelka

Former France and Chelsea striker Nicolas Anelka expressed his delight at "finding a big club" in the form of Juventus, as his transfer to the Italian giants was finalised on Friday. "It's nice to get back to a big club," said Anelka, 33, who left Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua to join the defending Serie A champions on a five-month contract that will reportedly net him an estimated 1.2million euro salary. The deal also includes an option for an additional year.

Soccer-Anelka trains at PSG but only as a friend, Ancelotti says

PARIS, Jan 10 (Reuters) - Paris St Germain coach Carlo Ancelotti has welcomed former player Nicolas Anelka into the club's training camp as a friend, but has no plans to sign him, the Italian said on Thursday. "We did not think about (signing him). I do not think there's an opportunity," Ancelotti told a news conference ahead of Friday's Ligue 1 home game against Ajaccio. "He only asked to train. He played under me and we are friends now. I allowed him to train because of our friendship."
