Tremors from Iran quake kill 13 in Pakistan - officials

QUETTA, Pakistan (Reuters) - At least 13 people were killed and hundreds of houses destroyed in southwestern Pakistan on Tuesday when the region was struck by tremors from an earthquake that was centred in neighbouring Iran, Pakistani officials said. Tremors from the 7.8 magnitude quake were also felt in India and Gulf states. The epicentre was in southeast Iran in an area of mountains and desert, about 200 km (125 miles) southeast of Zahedan and 250 km northwest of Turbat in Pakistan, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

CM Balochistan opens cleanliness drive in Quetta

Caretaker Chief Minister Balochistan Nawab Ghous Bakhsh Barozai inaugurated cleanliness campaign and gave approval to the uplift projects of the beautification of Quetta during his visit to the Quetta Metropolitan Corporation here.Secretary local bodies, Mehmoodul Hasan, Principal Secretary to CM Sarwar Javed, Commissioner Quetta Qambar Dashti, SSP Traffic, and Administrator Quetta Metropolitan Corporation were also present.Caretaker CM Balochistan was briefed that by dividing provincial capital in different zones, cleanliness drive has been launched.

CM approves for beautification of Quetta, its development

Baluchistan caretaker Chief Minister Nawab Ghaus Bakhsh Barozai while according approval of a comprehensive project for beautification of Quetta City and its development has directed for immediate implementation. All agencies would implement this project jointly to be supervised by Chief Minister personally. A high level meeting was held to review problems of Quetta and their solution as well as its development.

Five killed in Quetta road mishap

Five persons including two women and a child were killed when a passenger bus collided with a car on Quetta-Chaman Highway Friday.According to Levies sources, a passenger bus enroute to Quetta from Chaman collided with a car that killed five persons including two women and a child of the same family. Seven others including two women were also injured in the accident who were shifted to a nearby local hospital for treatment.The driver of the unfortunate bus managed to escape after the mishap while traffic was also suspended on Quetta-Chaman Highway due to the accident.

4 killed, 7 injured in car bus collision

Four persons were killed and seven others including three women were injured along Quetta-Chaman highway Friday.According to details a bus was going to Quetta form Chaman today. It collided with a car at Jungle Piralizai along Quetta-Chaman highway. Due to mishap traffic was suspended along the highway.As a result of accident four persons Mirza Khan, Hameedullah, Fateh Khan and an unknown died on the spot.Seven persons including Mst Bibi Karima, Bibi Shirina, Bibi Spozmai, Muhammad Ibrahim, Muhammad Naeem, Agha Khan and a four year girl were injured.

UoB MPs certificates verification

University of Balochistan Quetta has received names of members of parliament from Higher Education Commission HEC for verification of their educational certificates. They include Muhammad Mohsin Ali Qureshi, Agha Irfan Karim, Abdul Khaliq, Muhammad Rahim, Mohtarma Samina Raziq, Mohtarma Mubeena Rauf and Amjad Khan Afridi.University has asked all these former members of parliament to provide copies of their graduation, inter, matric and national identity cards to Controller, Registrar Office by April 4 so that these could be verified and sent to HEC.

Motorbike bomb kills six in Pakistan

A bomb planted on a motorbike killed six people and wounded another 15 on Friday in a crowded Pakistani market in troubled southwestern province Baluchistan, police said. The bomb, detonated by remote control, exploded near a bus station in the remote town of Dera Allah Yar, around 170 miles (270 kilometres) southeast of Quetta, the provincial capital. "At least six people have been killed and more than 15 injured. The bomb was planted on a motorcycle," police official Qamar Ul Hasan told AFP. Hasan said the target of the attack was yet not clear.
