Pakistan investigating illegal liquor sales by N. Korean diplomats

Pakistan's Foreign Ministry is investigating the alleged sale of liquor on the Pakistani black market by North Korean diplomats in Karachi, the ministry spokesman said Friday. Aizaz Chaudri told a weekly briefing the Protocol Department is checking into alleged smuggling and black marketing of liquor by North Korean diplomats as reported by a local newspaper. "I have seen the report. I have requested the Protocol Department to ascertain facts from the concerned ministry," he said.

Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to ensure peaceful and uninterrupted printing of ballot papers has deployed the Pakistan Army personnel at Printing Corporation Pakistan Press office in Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi offices. The ECP sources said that decision to deploy Pakistan Army was aimed at providing security during printing process to distribution of the ballot papers. Stay orders against allotment of plots to deputation officers in CDA issued

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has issued a stay order against allotment of plots to officers working on deputation in the Capital Development Authority (CDA). Justice Shoukat Siddiqui heard the petition filed by a former officer in the CDA and issued the stay orders. The court was told during the hearing that the CDA officials made an amendment in the Land Disposal Regulation permitting allotment of plots to the civic authority officers working on deputation. The officers join CDA on deputation and go back to their mother departments after getting allotment of plots.

CDA issues final show cause notices to owners
