Strait, Lambert leads winners at Academy of Country Music awards

By Robert Galbraith LAS VEGAS (Reuters) - Country music veteran George Strait and singer Miranda Lambert led the winners at the 49th Academy of Country Music awards, while the genre's biggest names, including Blake Shelton, Lady Antebellum, Eric Church and Keith Urban, sang their hits. Strait, 61, won the night's top prize of Entertainer of the Year, beating out Lambert, Luke Bryan, Blake Shelton and Taylor Swift. Bryan won the title last year.

SEATTLE (Reuters) - Pearl Jam's former financial manager, who used his position with the rock band to steal $380,000, was sentenced on Friday to 14 months in prison at a court hearing in Washington state, an official said. Rickey Charles Goodrich, 55, had initially faced 33 theft charges but in December he pleaded guilty to six counts of first-degree theft, King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office spokesman Dan Donohoe said.

Garth Brooks box set keeps Britney Spears at bay in Billboard 200

Brooks' boxed set, "Blame It All On My Roots," climbed from No. 3 to No. 1 with second week sales of 146,000 copies according to figures from Nielsen SoundScan. The box set contains six CDs and two DVDs and was released as an exclusive set at retailer Walmart over the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday weekend at a discounted price.

Jay-Z tops Grammy nominations, snub for Timberlake

Veteran rapper Jay-Z topped nominees for the 2014 Grammys announced Friday with nine nods, while Taylor Swift and Daft Punk were also among those in the running in major categories. But Jay-Z other major stars including Justin Timberlake failed to score any nominations in the major categories, which saw a mixture of rap and pop in the running for the top honors at music's equivalent of the Oscars next month.

Washington, Nov 25 (EFE).- Singer Justin Timberlake came out on top at the 41st American Music Awards by taking three of the five prizes for which he was nominated, on a night when Jennifer Lopez's tribute to Celia Cruz and host Pitbull's humor left a definite Latino mark on the show. Timberlake took the most prizes Sunday night and also grabbed the first of the evening, the award for Favorite Male Artist, Pop/Rock, a category in which he competed with Robin Thicke and Bruno Mars.
